PCCC Curling Leagues

The Ladder competition is comprised of 4 sections of 6 rinks per section, and games are played Monday and Tuesday evenings. The Ladder reflect the skills of the curlers, with ‘A’ section being the strongest. Rinks may move up or down the ladder according to the outcome after each term of games played.

The Lanthier is a round-robin format in which each game is against a different team each time. Games are played Wednesday and Thursday evenings. Each rink is allowed a combined rating of 10, comprised of the ratings of positions (skip – 4, third – 3, second – 2, green – 0). In this league, new curlers must be included whenever possible. Rinks are encouraged to register with 3 experienced curlers on the assumption that a green will be added.

Mixed curling is also a round-robin format, culminating with an overall winner. Games are played Friday evenings and Sunday late mornings/early afternoons. The Ken Kan Cup is the mixed post-season event, which involves a limited round robin with point totals being the deciding factor.

Senators are curlers who sign up to play in any of the three afternoon leagues called Mac Lecompte (on Tuesdays), Proudfoot (on Thursdays), and Neville (on Fridays).

The Day Ladies' League offers day-time curling most weekday mornings. This league is open to women at all levels of proficiency.

Pointe Claire Curling Club's Little Rock and Junior Programs have been recognized by Curling Québec as the best in the province. The program includes weekly instruction for curlers age 7 to 17 held Saturday afternoons.

Draw events include the President’s, Vice President’s, and Pat Lid. Each of these requires sign-up. Rinks are determined by the Match Committee. Games take place Saturday and Sunday mornings.

Other draw events include Junior and Senior Doubles, and Green Singles, played Tuesday and Thursday just prior to the first evening draw. The Points competition rounds out the draw schedule, with four events and the finals taking place Sunday mornings over the course of the season.

The Opening Bonspiel, Turkey Bonspiel, Mid-Season Bonspiel, and Closing Bonspiel are fun 6-end events that allow curlers to play with different people than their regular team mates, and feature good laughs and great food.
The Skins (November), Calcutta (end of January) and the Medley are all week-long events that are of a very competitive nature.

The MacDonald Cup is a friendly annual competition between PCCC and Royal Montreal CC, alternating sties from one year to the next, and is a fundraiser for one of Montreal’s charities. The Guests’ Cup is for members of at least 5 years of membership, and their invited guests. Both the MacDonald Cup and the Guests’ Cup are by invitation only.
